How we Integrate Physical Therapy Treatments

Often, patients can benefit from multiple modalities such as yoga, acupuncture, dry needling or pool therapy in addition to traditional physical therapy treatment. At Jade we understand that each patient and body is different. All treatments you receive are a discussion with your physical therapist about what will be most beneficial for you and your recovery. All Jade providers communicate and collaborate about the care and treatments you are receiving.

Here are Some Ways that we Integrate Physical Therapy with Other Jade Services:

Physical Therapy and Yoga:

Yoga therapy is typically covered under your physical therapy benefit as your therapist and yoga instructor work closely together towards your therapy plan of care and goals. Yoga addresses strength, flexibility, balance, posture, alignment, breath control and motor control resulting in increased functioning of the neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems.

Yoga is a great way to ease yourself back into an activity following an injury. No prior yoga experience is necessary.

Having a private session with one of our certified yoga instructors allows you to learn modifications to prevent further risk of injury.

Physical Therapy and Dry Needling:

Dry needling is a geographic type of acupuncture with focal treatment at the area of the musculoskeletal issue.

Typically, you will see your physical therapist for 30 minutes and then an acupuncturist for 30 minutes.

Our dry needling sessions are always be performed by a licensed Jade acupuncturist.

Physical Therapy and Aquatic Therapy:

After your initial physical therapy evaluation in our office, your doctor or therapist may recommend aquatic physical therapy.

Jade Integrated Health privately uses the instructional warm water pool at the Portland YMCA. This includes cardiovascular training, resistance exercises and stretching.

All aquatic therapy sessions are instructed by a licensed Jade Physical Therapist.

First Visit - What You Can Expect

Treatment starts with a comprehensive evaluation, following which, an individualized treatment plan will be put in place specific to the client's diagnosis and rehab goals. We recommend comfortable, loose clothing for the appointment. Typically, each physical therapy visit lasts 45-60 minutes.
