Grace Bedard, PT, DPT
Grace graduated with her doctorate in Physical Therapy in May 2016 from Sage Graduate School in Troy NY. She did her undergraduate work in Holistic Health and Wellness which included a semester studying Positive Psychology in Copenhagen, Denmark. Grace has practiced yoga for 10 years and is excited to be completing her yoga teacher training in January 2018. Since graduating Grace has been working as a traveling physical therapist and has valued the experience in problem solving, and adapting to new places and people. She has continued education in kinesio taping, myofascial release, and McKenzie method based therapy. Grace enjoys treating across the lifespan. She has experience in pediatrics, outpatient orthopedics, skilled nursing, and acute rehabilitation. She particularly enjoys working with runners, dancers, and yogis.
Grace initiated her yoga practice during her first career as a dancer, while working with a dance company that drew inspiration from yoga. Her dance career took her all over the country and the world. Most recently in NYC Grace was a principal dancer with Overground Arts Alliance and performed at the Judson Memorial Church among other venues. Her work in movement has been an asset to her as a physical therapist. She designed and lead a qualitative study for her doctoral research on the effect that injury has on dancers’ quality of life. She is invested in providing preventative care along with injury recovery to the dance community in Portland.
Grace is excited to bring all these aspects of her experience together at Jade and provide Physical Therapy that integrates holistic care, is patient focused, and supports a healthy lifestyle. Outside of the clinic you can find Grace walking her dog, Bridget, snuggling with her cat, Willow, or in NH having adventures with her niece and nephews.
