Electrical stimulation (E-stim), or electroacupuncture, which is applied to the needles by thin wires and alligator clamps, provides continuous stimulation to the points and may be recommended. Research supports that low levels of current, for example between 2-5hz, can help strengthen the analgesic effects of acupuncture.
