Abby Knight, CYT

Abby's interest in yoga philosophy began during high school and continued into college while pursuing a degree in Philosophy and Religion. Despite blips of mindfulness scattered throughout childhood, a Buddhism class was the first time Abby would experience the benefits of consistent meditation- just five minutes in the morning and/or before bed for the semester. This practice was enlightening and led to a lifelong connection to and interest in Eastern philosophy.

After graduating, Abby moved to Maine and began working at a preschool for children with various developmental disabilities. Between the floor sitting and lifting required for the job, low back pain and stress started to reside a little too comfortably, so Abby began to revisit her mindfulness practice. Immediately noticing the difference in taking those mindful five minutes from back in college, posture and attitude were significantly improved. While considering completing Yoga Teacher Training for her own benefit, she started to introduce yoga and mindfulness to the kids she was working with, and found the practice just as beneficial for them (as well as the teachers)!

Abby completed training in Spring of 2013 through Jacqui Bonwell and Sacred Seeds Yoga School. Since then, she has completed additional trainings in Prenatal Yoga, Postnatal/Baby and Me Yoga, Kids Yoga and Mindfulness, and Adaptive Yoga. Classes are slow paced but can be challenging, with emphasis on cultivating self-awareness and connecting to the breath. All-levels, all bodies are always welcome. When not teaching yoga, Abby lives on Peaks Island with her son, Cooper. Yes, she takes a boat every day. No, it's not that bad.
