Telehealth Herbal Consults at Jade Integrated Health

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) offers a wide variety of services ranging far beyond the commonly known practice of acupuncture. There are other branches of TCM, including meditation, qigong, food therapy, fengshui, herbal medicine, bodywork, and tai chi. The over arcing aim of TCM is to balance the systems of the body and restore its ability to heal. Though it may be impossible to seek in-person acupuncture during these unknown times. Practitioners can help alleviate symptoms, pain and anxieties using other branches of TCM via telehealth video care.

We are offering Herbal Consultations with our Acupuncturist via a telehealth video platform. Here is what we can do for you:

  • Herbal Medicine: With thousands of years of documented practice, this branch of TCM has been successful treating a variety of ailments. Our acupuncturist are also certified herbalist. Herbal formulas can come in powders, tinctures and pills. Typically, herbalist prescribe a weeks worth of herbs and then adjust the prescription to fit symptom changes.

  • Food Therapy: TCM theory believes food is medicine. You can nourish and heal your body by eating the right foods or preparing food is a certain way. Every herb and food has an assigned flavor, nature and associated organ system that affect the body differently. Depending on your constitution and symptoms, eating certain foods and eliminating/reducing others can help alleviate or reduce symptoms of disease.

  • Acupressure: This practice uses fingers and pressure (instead of needles) to help move qi (or energy) around the body. By applying pressure to acupoints in different place on the body, qi can become unblocked resulting in a more balanced flow and reduction of symptoms.

  • Mindfulness Practices: Practitioners can also help facilitate mindfulness-based practices with patients to reduce stress and anxiety. TCM branches that use mindfulness include meditation, qigong, breathing exercises, and tai chi. In TCM, the mind and body are connected and have dynamic influence over one another. By soothing the mind, the body can heal and respond to its own needs.
